Job summary

BMSI in Central London is seeking an experienced BMS Design Engineer to join our Major Projects division. You will lead the design of large-scale building management system installations and ensure they align with project delivery strategies across high-profile developments.

Working within our employee-owned, collaborative team, you’ll interpret electrical and MEP drawings, coordinate with project managers, and maintain stringent quality standards while traveling to sites around Central London

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a BMS Design Engineer.
• Knowledge of BMS systems (Trend/Schneider StruxureWare, Siemens, Tridium, Distech).
• Ability to read electrical and MEP drawings.
• Experience delivering design tasks to programme.
• Willingness to travel to sites in Central London.

Responsibilities

• Manage the entire design process of each project and link to delivery strategy.
• Produce point schedules, equipment schedules, network topologies and operations descriptions.
• Take responsibility for equipment procurement.
• Engage with Project Manager to meet design task deadlines.
• Work to tight deadlines and budgets while maintaining high standards.
• Interpret electrical drawings and MEP schematics confidently.
• Provide technical support with a professional, customer-focused approach.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

• Manage the entire design process of each project to ensure that it links with the overall strategy of how the project is to be delivered
• Produce point schedules, equipment schedules, Network topologies and Description of Operations
• Take responsibility for all equipment procurement
• Ensure full engagement with the respective Project Manager and understand the time frame to deliver each design task/element to meet the project programme
• Work to tight deadlines and budgets, maintaining high standards throughout
• Interpret electrical drawings, control schematics and MEP drawings confidently and accurately
• Providing technical support and maintaining a professional, customer-focused approach

What We’re Looking For:

• Positive and proactive approach to Health & Safety
• Familiarity with the Trend or Schneider StruxureWare systems preferably but alsoSiemens, Tridium or Distech, as training can be provided for the right candidate
• Demonstrable experience as a BMS Design Engineer, ideally with some knowledge around metering and third-party interfacing
• Demonstrable experience with understanding air, hydraulic and electrical systems
• Proficiency in reading electrical & control wiring diagrams
• Good ability to maintain records, trackers and reports
• Strong teamworking and communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail and a quality-first attitude
• Flexibility to travel to sites across Central London and nearby areas, when required
