The Senior Engineer will work alongside the customer, account manager, service, and project teams to proactively identify risks and opportunities for the client. Responsibilities include shaping energy strategies, developing roadmaps for future-proofing systems, and providing high-level technical support to project and service teams.

From a static state, the engineer will commission controls systems and plant interfaces, bringing the control system and plant to full operation in accordance with project specifications and designs.

How you will do it

As part of the prime projects team, the following key tasks will be performed:

  • Review project specifications and designs; identify any commissioning or software issues with the project manager
  • Validate assumptions made during solution design; build detailed cost estimates and scope of work in conjunction with Operations
  • Assist in preparing proposals and other customer communication documents
  • Work according to project software and commissioning requirements
  • Maintain a positive attitude to improve customer satisfaction
  • Coordinate closely with the manager to address operational problems during work
  • Follow safe systems of working
  • Ensure factory acceptance tests, commissioning tests are performed, and handover sheets completed. Produce system handover documentation for manuals
  • Keep accurate records of commissioning progress
  • Develop and test software programs to operate the system as per project requirements
  • Create necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation
  • Select materials for projects
  • Load and commission system and network controllers
  • Validate system functionality and troubleshoot with subcontractors
  • Manage loading, device verification, and commissioning of controllers, ensuring proper operation and resolving issues

What we look for

Required

  • Valid CSCS site card & SSSTS certification
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • GCSE “O” level pass grade and/or electrical/electronic NVQ qualifications
  • Experience in creating/updating graphics and setting up workstations/networks (training provided)
  • Experience configuring controllers and actuators on AHUs and terminal units
  • HVAC knowledge/experience
  • Experience fault finding in electrical starter/control circuits and commissioning starters and rotating plant
  • Experience with variable speed drives
  • Knowledge of BMS industry standard protocols
  • Experience working on small to medium-sized service projects and construction site projects (£10K to £150K)
  • Willingness to travel outside Scotland
