Job summary

Airedale NHS Foundation Trust in Bradford invites a suitably qualified Biomedical Scientist to lead the day-to-day operations of the Blood Transfusion department. The role supports the Cross-Site Service Lead and drives high standards in technical performance, training and quality management.

The postholder will maintain the department's Quality Management System, supporting accreditation, audits, incident investigations and service development, with emphasis on leadership and collaborative

Qualifications

• HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist with specialist transfusion knowledge.
• IBMS Specialist Diploma or Higher Specialist Diploma in Blood Transfusion.
• MSc in Biomedical Science or related subject is preferred.
• BBTS transfusion certification is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day operational management of the Blood Transfusion department.
• Support the Cross-Site Service Lead and ensure high technical performance.
• Lead training, quality management and staff development.
• Support accreditation processes, audits and incident investigations.
• Contribute to service development and interdepartmental collaboration.
