Job summary

NHS Blood and Transplant is seeking a Blood Donation Team Assistant to support donors across session locations. You will care for donors after donation, prepare refreshments, and help keep sessions running safely and efficiently.

The role involves variable hours, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays, with travel between session locations as needed. You will receive full training and ongoing support to develop new skills within a team focused on quality, care, and excellent customer

Qualifications

  • Provide excellent care and customer service in the post-donation recovery area.
  • Support donors during visits by preparing refreshments and monitoring after donation.
  • Be available on a bank basis with variable hours including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
  • Follow written instructions and complete training and competency assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Care for donors after donation and maintain high standards of observation.
  • Load, unload, assemble and dismantle equipment daily, handling up to 13 kg.
  • Prepare refreshments and support donors throughout their session.
  • Ensure health, safety and infection control standards are followed.

As a Blood Donation Team Assistant, youll play an important part in delivering a positive experience for our donors and supporting our donation teams across a variety of session locations. Youll help care for donors after they have donated, prepare refreshments, make appointments and maintain accurate records, while helping to ensure sessions run safely and efficiently. Youll receive full training and ongoing support to develop new skills in a team environment where caring for donors, maintaining quality standards and delivering excellent customer service are at the heart of everything we do.Main duties of the job Make a meaningful contribution to the donor experience by providing excellent care and customer service in the post donation recovery area. Support donors throughout their visit by preparing and distributing refreshments and maintaining close observation following donation. The role will require you to be available on a bank to work variable hours and days, including evening shifts, weekends and bank holidays with appropriate notice. Blood collection takes place in a variety of locations, requiring you to undertake journeys in our vehicles or in your own vehicle for up to 2 hours. You will be required to load, unload, assemble and dismantle equipment on a daily basis including heavy objects of up to 13 kgs. Help create a safe environment for donors, colleagues and visitors by maintaining high standards of health, safety and infection control.
