Job summary

NHS Scotland is seeking a Phlebotomist - Band 3 to join the hospital phlebotomy service at St Johns Hospital, Lothian University Hospitals division. The role focuses on obtaining venous access and collecting blood samples, under supervision, while ensuring patient and staff safety according to established protocols.

This post is part-time with pro-rata salary. PVG scheme membership is required or must be applied for before starting.

Qualifications

• Provide high quality patient care and support within the hospital phlebotomy service.
• Obtain patient venous access and collect blood samples as requested.
• Adhere to hospital protocols, policies and relevant health and safety legislation.

Responsibilities

• Support medical staff within hospital directorates under supervision.
• Assist in other clinical care areas as the service develops.
• Ensure patient safety and proper handling of specimens.
