Home-based (UK)

About us

We’re Blind Veterans UK, a charity that helps vision-impaired ex-service people from every generation rebuild their lives after their sight has been affected. Founded in 1915, by Sir Arthur Pearson, to help the many veterans losing their sight after the First World War, we have over a century of experience providing the best care to our veterans.

Since then, we’ve provided support to tens of thousands of vision-impaired veterans, helping them to regain their independence. By providing our members with the tools and skills they need to lead a fulfilling and active life, we ensure they remain valued members of society.

We’re one transformational team that believes every vision-impaired veteran should be able to lead the life they choose.

We are now looking for a Supporter Care Assistant to join us on a full-time, fixed-term basis for a nine-month contract, working 35 hours per week.

The Benefits

  1. Salary of £24,628 per annum
  2. Generous annual leave with the option to buy additional days
  3. Pension scheme with generous employer contributions
  4. Healthcare cash plan
  5. Access to legal services and mental health support
  6. Employee assistance programme
  7. Paid professional subscriptions and discounts
  8. Home working allowance
  9. Professional and personal development

This is an excellent opportunity for a customer service professional with a passion for delivering outstanding service to join our meaningful organisation.

Directly contributing to transforming the lives of vision-impaired veterans, you will discover a compassionate, values-focused environment, flexibility and a fantastic rewards package that supports every aspect of life.

What’s more, we’ll support your personal and professional growth through a range of professional development opportunities, making this is your chance to be part of an environment where people are truly valued.

The Role

As a Supporter Care Assistant, you will be the first point of contact for supporters, donors, beneficiaries, applicants, and members of the public.

Specifically, you’ll handle enquiries and communications, providing excellent service and information, and inspiring others to support our work.

Processing donations, you will maintain accurate data on our CRM, and record Gift Aid information in line with HMRC regulations.

You will also handle complaints and donor cancellations, offering alternatives where appropriate to maintain their engagement with the charity.

Additionally, you will:

  1. Handle payments
  2. Process daily post
  3. Ensure compliance with GDPR and PCI requirements
  4. Maintain the security and confidentiality of donations and supporter data
