At Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea Hospital's Birth Centre we are looking for an enthusiastic Band 6 midwife who can demonstrate excellent decision making and communication skills, with the ability to liaise with the multi-disciplinary team to facilitate safe care and provide an enhanced patient experience.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills in supporting physiological birth, within a bio-psycho-social model of care and minimise unnecessary interventions. You will be supported by the core Birth Centre team including Band 7s and Matron and contribute to the provision of midwife-led care at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

Specifically working at the Birth Centre will enable you to:
• Gain confidence in facilitating water births
• Gain confidence in facilitating active births
• Gain confidence in working autonomously and knowing when to refer to the Multidisciplinary Team.
• Gain confidence in counselling women with personalised care plans

Main duties of the job

• Provide effective, individualised, women-centred, evidence-based midwifery led care.
• Ensure the effective use of resources.
• Provide support, education and mentorship to other midwives, student midwives and designated support staff.
• Maintain own professional practice and that of others in line with Nursing and Midwifery Council guidance.
