Job summary

AbbVie Oxford, UK is seeking an Associate Director/Director to lead an integrated Biotherapeutics team advancing large molecules from early exploration to IND. The role requires a strong Immunology background and a proven track record in cross-disciplinary leadership to drive portfolio assets to the clinic.

Responsibilities include coordinating resources, collaborating with immunology colleagues, and guiding external partnerships while mentoring scientists and overseeing technical reports.

Qualifications

• PhD or MS in Immunology with biotherapeutics discovery experience.
• Deep expertise in biotherapeutics discovery/engineering and antibody structure-function.
• Proven track record advancing biologics, cell or gene therapies.
• Ability to interpret complex data and communicate to diverse audiences.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and mentoring scientists.

Responsibilities

• Lead Biotherapeutics cross-functional teams to advance large molecules to IND.
• Ensure scientific excellence and best practices across programs.
• Identify targets and apply new technologies to meet milestones.
• Coordinate resources across programs and external collaborations.
• Translate literature and conference insights into strategic portfolio decisions.
• Lead and mentor project leaders and scientists with advanced degrees.
• Review and maintain the quality of technical reports.
