AmpliSynth is developing SynthBox, a modular, open-source DNA printer that enables same-day DNA synthesis without the bottlenecks of traditional supply chains. Our mission is to democratize access to
custom DNA and accelerate breakthroughs in biotechnology.
The Position
We are looking for a Biophysical Scientist to join our team, drive experimental innovation, and bridge gaps between biology, engineering, and automation.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and execute cell-free DNA synthesisexperiments from concept to validation.
• Design and optimize experiments usingDesign of Experiments (DOE)methodologies to produce actionable results.
• Contribute to the grant writing process,supporting technical sections andexperimental justifications.
• Collaborate closely with hardware engineersto integrate biological workflows intoautomated systems.
• Proactively identify challenges, proposesolutions, and drive scientific processes with minimal oversight.
• Maintain detailed experimentaldocumentation and contribute to projectreporting for internal and externalstakeholders.
Essential Requirements
• Proven, hands-on wet lab expertise with standard and advanced experimental techniques and instrumentation
• Demonstrated use of results-driven DOE in experimental design.
• Familiarity with the grant writing process for research funding.
• Comfortable owning and driving scientific processes independently.
• Agile and curious personality
Nice to Have
• Hands-on expertise across multiple DNA synthesis techniques, both enzymatic (e.g., Gibson Assembly, Rolling Circle Amplification) and chemical (e.g., phosphoramidite chemistry).
• Experience with RNA synthesis workflows.
• Exposure to integrating hardware and biology (automation, robotics, lab • instrumentation).
• Experience with fluorescence spectroscopy
• Experience with cell culture techniques and ELISA assays.
• A proven track record of self-driven, end-to-end scientific projects.
