Job description

Applications are invited from enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team as a Biomedical Support Worker in the Clinical Biochemistry laboratory at the Bedford site. You will receive thorough training and gain experience in techniques such as receiving and preparing blood samples, entering data into the laboratory computer system, and maintaining equipment.

While the department provides a 24/7 service, BSW shifts are from 08:40 to 17:10 and 11:30 to 20:00, Monday to Friday.

Please note: this post does not allow for registration portfolio completion. Previous laboratory or hospital experience is desirable, but full training will be provided.

As a Biomedical Support Worker, you will assist Higher Biomedical Support Workers, Biomedical Scientists, and senior Biomedical Scientists in delivering a cohesive service. Your responsibilities include contributing to daily operations, supporting technical aspects, and helping ensure compliance with UKAS standards, legislation, and regulatory bodies. You may also assist in training support staff.

Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust serves a population of around 700,000 across Bedfordshire, with hospital sites in Bedford and Luton offering services such as A&E, maternity, and paediatrics.
