It is an exciting time to join Public Health Wales Microbiology, which has expanded its workforce and the delivery of Microbiology services. The service operates across multiple sites in Wales.
An opportunity has arisen to join our Bacteriology Team at Singleton Hospital. You will be at the forefront of Microbiology in Wales, with significant investment in new technology and staff. We aim to provide a modern, rapid diagnostic service using state-of-the-art equipment.
We offer automatic progression to Band 6 upon successful completion of the IBMS Specialist Diploma (Medical Microbiology/Bacteriology), with full compliance in statutory and mandatory training and relevant competencies.
The successful candidate will receive full training and support from our training team and will have opportunities for career development.
We seek enthusiastic, motivated, and innovative candidates with good organizational and practical skills, supported by scientific knowledge. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with flexibility, self-motivation, and practical skills. You will utilize your Biomedical Scientist knowledge to contribute effectively to the department's operations, support team building, and assist in continuous improvement initiatives. Knowledge of good laboratory practice and ISO15189 quality standards is desirable. The role involves supporting a 24/7 service according to a published rota.
