Job description

We are seeking a Biomedical Scientist to join the microbiology team based at Glan Clwyd Hospital. Candidates will need to be enthusiastic, well-motivated and innovative, with good organisational and practical abilities supported by scientific knowledge. They should have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to lead and support individual and team working.

HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists that hold the IBMS Specialist Diploma in medical Microbiology or demonstrate equivalent experience will be appointed at Band 6. HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists that do not hold the IBMS Specialist Diploma in Medical Microbiology will be appointed at Band 5. Public Health Wales provides the opportunity for automatic progression to Band 6 on successful completion of the IBMS Specialist Diploma in Medical Microbiology.

Candidates should possess well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to support individual and team working. Being flexible, self-motivated, and possessing good practical skills will be fundamental to your role. You will use your knowledge and skills as a Biomedical Scientist to contribute to a robust and fully operational system within the department. You will assist in building a strong team and support the Senior Biomedical Scientists to enable continual improvements in the department and throughout the Microbiology Network. An understanding of good laboratory practice and ISO15189 quality management is desirable.

The post holder will support the provision of a 24/7 service in accordance with a published rota.
