Department of Microbiology, Virology and Infection Prevention ControlSpecialist Biomedical Scientist - Microbiology & Virology (Fixed Term 1 year)Band 6We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic HCPC registeredBiomedical Scientist in Microbiology and Virology to participate in theVirology department's diagnostic service, including serology, 16S pan-bacterial PCR, viral real-time PCR, Sanger sequencing and respiratory metagenomics.This is an externally funded fixed term post for 12 months.Candidates are expected to posses an understanding and experience PCR; experience of metagenomics, next-generation sequencing and/or 16S PCR and sequencing would be advantageous.The department provides an extensive range of investigations to support the specialist patient population of this tertiary referral paediatric hospital, and also provides a specialist service to other hospitals. This is an excellent opportunity to work as part of an expanding molecular team in Microbiology and Virology.
