Biomedical Scientist | Microbiology | Full time – 37.5 hours | Bushey, Watford | Training and development opportunities

Spire Bushey pathology services is recruiting full-time registered Biomedical Scientists in Microbiology to support the Microbiology Team. The role is based at the standalone Laboratory in Centennial Park and includes responsibilities such as receipt and booking of Microbiology samples, sample preparation, analyser maintenance, and processing samples using manual and automated methodologies including MALDI, BDMax, Cepheid, and Microscan. The lab operates across 2 shifts, 7 days a week.

In 2015, our 22 specialist laboratories and 200 staff carried out over two million tests, ranging from simple full blood counts to complex tumour markers. Duties and responsibilities

• Work within an experienced pathology team in a state-of-the-art laboratory
• Plan, analyze, assess, and report pathology investigations
• Interpret and report information related to ideas and concepts
• Develop and evaluate laboratory specimen workflows, including blood and tissue samples
• Monitor and ensure quality in technological applications for pathology investigations

Who we're looking for

• Degree in Biomedical Sciences with significant microbiology experience
• Current HCPC registration
• Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience (preferred)
