Join to apply for the Biomedical Scientist in Blood Sciences role at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust.

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our friendly, dedicated, and expanding team of professionals as a Band 5 Biomedical Scientist in our busy Blood Sciences laboratory at Weston General Hospital.

This is an exciting time to join the team as we implement new equipment as part of our new managed service contract.

You will be a proactive member of the Blood Sciences Team, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work within a team processing a high workload of specimens. You should have great multi-tasking ability, excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and be able to prioritize urgent work appropriately.

You must be an HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist. The department has a specialist portfolio training programme and a proven track record of success. The successful applicant will be expected to actively participate in processes, training, and staff development within the department.

The department operates a Blood Sciences 24/7 shift system covering day, late, night shifts, weekends, and Bank Holidays, which the successful applicant must participate in as required.

The post holder will be part of a team providing Blood Sciences services, including Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology, and Blood Transfusion. The team comprises Medical Laboratory Assistants, Trainee Biomedical Scientists, Associate Practitioners, Biomedical Scientists, Clerical staff, and Medical staff.

The post holder will need to understand the importance of analytical quality and clinical urgency, and take appropriate action when abnormal pathology results are found to maintain high standards of patient care.

Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and UK-based laboratory experience are required.
