Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • IBMS accredited Biomedical Sciences degree (or other degree accredited with IBMS)
  • Current HCPC registration
  • Evidence of CPD

Desirable criteria

  • Working towards IBMS Specialist Diploma in Cellular Pathology

Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Knowledge and experience of Quality Management Systems in pathology
  • Knowledge of the work of a Histopathology Department
  • Hospital laboratory experience in Histopathology
  • A sound understanding of basic physiology, pathology and scientific principles relevant to Histopathology

Training and Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience of operating, troubleshooting and maintaining complex laboratory equipment
  • Experience of training BMS and MLA staff
  • Awareness of ISO 15189 standards

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of using QPulse
  • Experience in service improvement within pathology

Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
