Biomedical Scientist / Trainee Biomedical Scientist

Join us for the Biomedical Scientist / Trainee Biomedical Scientist role at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

This position is available in the Histopathology Department, offering an exciting opportunity to be part of a dedicated team working in a modern, busy teaching hospital laboratory. The department handles approximately 80,000 surgical requests annually and provides a range of routine and specialized services.

We encourage applications from graduates who have completed an IBMS-accredited biomedical sciences degree. Candidates will need to complete the IBMS registration portfolio and HCPC registration before transitioning to a registered BMS role.

The successful candidate will:

  • Work as a BMS across all laboratory sections.
  • Perform section cutting, embedding, special staining, immunohistochemistry, and specimen reception/dissection work.
  • Carry out frozen sections and Mohs frozen sections.
  • Assist with staff training, quality control, and equipment maintenance.
  • Contribute to lab projects and development.
  • Participate in audits.
