Job description

Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated biomedical scientist to join our Cellular Pathology team at this busy NHS Foundation Trust. The ideal candidate will be professional, reliable, and flexible.

The appointee will be based in the Histopathology department at King's Mill Hospital, with rotations through routine Histopathology, Non-gynae Cytology, Andrology, and Immunohistochemistry. Occasional travel to Newark Hospital, where we have a satellite laboratory, may be required.

The department holds full UKAS accreditation, HCPC/IBMS training status, and actively encourages CPD participation. The laboratory operates on weekdays only, but candidates must be flexible to work 5 out of 7 days if needed. The salary is aligned with Agenda for Change terms and conditions.

You will be based within the UKAS 15189:2012 accredited Pathology Department at King's Mill Hospital, which is developing collaborative relationships with neighboring Trusts. This is an exciting period for the department as we foster a culture of continuous improvement to deliver outstanding healthcare.

Knowledge (Essential)
  • Relevant theoretical, practical, or scientific knowledge underpinning laboratory services.
Qualifications (Essential)
  • HCPC registration as a biomedical scientist or Biomedical Science Degree or equivalent.
Desirable
  • IT skills.
Further Training (Essential)
  • Participation in CPD.
  • Completion of a minimum two-year postgraduate training program in Histopathology using the Specialist Portfolio.
Experience (Essential)
  • At least 2 years of specialist training in a clinical laboratory demonstrating competence in the specialist training portfolio.
Contractual Requirements (Essential)
  • 37.5 hours per week.
  • Annual attendance at Trust Fire lecture.
