A National Health Service provider is seeking a Biomedical Scientist focused on haematology and andrology in Norwich. The successful candidate will communicate complex test results, manage both urgent and routine work, and ensure the maintenance of analytical equipment. Graduates with an IBMS-accredited biomedical sciences degree or those in a trainee role are encouraged to apply. This position will initially be a one-year contract with the opportunity for permanence after performance evaluation.
Communicates complex service-related test information to managers, consultants, nurses, other healthcare colleagues, patients, and patient carers. Answers telephone inquiries from pathology users, patients, and patient carers about test results and provides information that is complex concerning methodologies and service requirements, seeking advice as required. Assists in explaining results and reassures users that the information is correct after seeking advice when results do not align with clinical presentation.
Manages own work on a daily basis in specialised services. Responsible for processing both urgent and routine work to maintain routine turnaround times in line with Trust and Service policies. Maintains, as part of a team, complex specialist analytical equipment daily and assesses its fitness for clinical use, referring to senior staff as appropriate.
We also welcome applications from graduates who have completed an IBMS-accredited biomedical sciences degree and are currently in a trainee BMS role or are due to graduate this year (Please refer to attached job descriptions). Please note that for these candidates, this post will initially be offered as a one-year fixed-term contract, subject to completion of the HCPC registration portfolio, attainment of a satisfactory level of competency, and participation in a 24/7 shift roster. After this period, the post will convert to a substantive contract.
