A leading healthcare organization in London is looking for professionals for Band 5 and Band 6 laboratory positions. Responsibilities include performing and analyzing tests related to organ transplants and blood products, along with supervising and training staff. You will be working as part of a clinical team, including doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Your role will directly contribute to saving and improving patients' lives. There are many opportunities for career advancement. With experience and training, you may progress to managing a section of the laboratory or become a consultant lead responsible for the entire laboratory service. You may also specialize in areas vital to modern diagnostic services, such as Quality Control, training and education, or research and development. We will provide an extensive induction and training program, along with ongoing development to support your career ambitions.
Band 5 - Perform, analyze, record, and interpret a wide range of laboratory investigations and technical procedures related to patient test results for organ transplant and blood transfusion, and the issue of blood and tissue products, with team support. Handle blood and tissue samples and operate laboratory analyzers and equipment. Support and train new and less experienced staff. Undertake urgent on-call work, providing 24/7 testing and advice, depending on specialty. Work variable hours, including weekends and bank holidays, with appropriate notice, as per the roster. Participate in shift and on-call rotas and provide cover during operational emergencies.
Band 6 - Perform, analyze, record, and interpret a wide range of investigations related to patient test results and blood products, with team support. Monitor workflow, procedures, equipment, and storage, taking appropriate action to resolve issues. Analyze, validate, interpret, record, transmit, and report investigation results. Handle blood samples and operate laboratory analyzers and equipment. Supervise, train, and mentor junior staff.
