Job Description

Role: Biomedical Scientist - Blood Transfusion
Site: London, HCA Laboratories (Shropshire House)
Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week
Shifts: 7.5 hour shifts Monday-Friday with weekend rota participation also required
Contract Type: One Year Fixed Term Contract
Salary: Competitive with weekend work paid as overtime (with excellent benefits)

As a Biomedical Scientist in Transfusion, you will be responsible for the speedy and accurate processing of group and save samples, the interpretation and validation of results including antibody panels, crossmatching, and red cell phenotyping.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Speedy and accurate processing of samples
  • Interpretation, validation, and timely reporting of results
  • Monitor and enter results from referral laboratories
  • Participate in the Transfusion Weekend Rota
  • Deal with telephone enquiries
  • Assist Section Leader and BMS 3/2 with the day-to-day running of Transfusion Sections
  • Ensure equipment is maintained and working correctly
  • Stock control and rotation
Skills and Experience
  • HCPC Registered
  • Must have the BBTS certificate
  • Member of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences
  • Evidence of Continual Professional Development
