Job summary
12-Month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and well-motivated recently registered HCPC Biomedical Scientist to join the Blood Sciences Department at St Peter's Hospital. Predominantly with a Haematology background you will be expected to work collaboratively in a Blood Sciences team, supporting haematology, Blood Transfusion, and haemostasis services. You will be expected to complete a training programme to ensure competency before working unsupervised.
Main duties of the job
Once trained and competency is achieved the successful post holder will work in rotation with other staff in all sections of the laboratory, namely routine Biochemistry, routine Haematology, haemostasis and Blood Transfusion. The laboratory is well equipped with, Abbott Ci Chemistry analysers, Alinity HQ and HS, Immucor IRIS Blood Group analyser. The Blood Sciences department at SPH provides a centralised Special Coagulation service for the BSPS network. This highly specialised section uses Werfen ACL TOPs analysers.
The Laboratory is UKAS accredited, has training status and is committed to continuing staff development, working towards a fully integrated multidisciplinary model. Therefore, you will progress through a program of training to become a fully competent multidisciplinary BMS.
