Job description

Biomedical Scientist Band 5/6 - Fixed Term 12 Months

We have a position in Blood Sciences - Biochemistry, available for a Biomedical Scientist at Band 5 or a Specialist Biomedical Scientist at Band 6.

We support your development by providing access to courses up to and including a Master’s degree. We also support staff development through internal and external courses in management, Health & Safety, and Quality Management.

You will work in rotation within the biochemistry department, participating in the out-of-hours shift rota. The laboratory is well-equipped with Roche instruments and is relocating to a new state-of-the-art site with Abbott Alinity instruments, with a planned go-live date for July 2023.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the shift rota, which includes nights and weekends. Band 5 applicants will be supported to complete the specialist portfolio and, upon completion, will be upgraded to Band 6.

Our laboratory is accredited for UKAS ISO:15189, MHRA, and is recognized as a training laboratory by the IBMS for both registration and specialist portfolios, leading to HCPC registration.

Reading, situated on the River Thames, has excellent road and rail links to London, Oxford, and Southampton.
