Job description

We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, and well-motivated individual with laboratory experience to join our team within the Blood Sciences Clinical Laboratory at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, part of the Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services, one of the largest pathology networks in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Perform initial screening and further investigation of diagnostic tests to produce complex quality diagnostic results, aiding patient treatment and care.
  2. Maintain multidisciplinary skills in Biochemistry, Haematology, and Blood Transfusion to deliver services in a multidisciplinary environment.
  3. Participate in the shift rota to ensure a safe and high-quality Blood Sciences service across RSH and the Pathology Network.
  4. Assist in maintaining UKAS ISO 15189:2022 and MHRA accreditation by engaging in the quality management system.
  5. Demonstrate effective leadership and communication skills, managing junior staff positively and efficiently.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Trained to undergraduate knowledge level in Blood Sciences or relevant discipline.
  • Competent in Biochemistry, Haematology, and Blood Transfusion testing, with the ability to operate complex analyzers and IT solutions.
  • Able to acquire and maintain multidisciplinary skills in a clinical setting.
