This role is part of the team of BMS providing the 24/7 service within the multi-disciplinary Blood Sciences service.

You will be reporting to the Operations Managers and hold a variety of responsibilities to ensure the successful delivery of Blood Sciences services, in line with our corporate objectives.

The ideal candidate will be a quick learner and good team player and someone with aspirations of developing their biomedical scientist career in a diverse and multi-disciplinary setting. This is a great opportunity to experience working on fully automated track systems, with a variety of automated analysers.

The post holder will join our team of BMS staff and following all the appropriate training, will be expected to participate in the 24/7 Blood Sciences services provision. Depending on circumstances, cross-site working may become necessary when the Hub and Spoke service is fully established.

This role is primarily based on Floor 2 of the Hub, automated multi-disciplinary Blood Sciences Department.

As HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist your main duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Perform and interpret routine biomedical investigations by participating in regular daily workloads, as directed by management, in line with your skills, experience, and competencies.
  • Maintain standards of conduct required by the HCPC to practice as a registered Biomedical Scientist.
  • Process specimens and handle sensitive information with care and due diligence, such as patient results, in line with local Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Support MLAs and APs by ensuring performance is in line with laboratory standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all legislative and quality requirements of regulatory directives, accreditation bodies, and local management, including UKAS and Synnovis policies and SOPs.
  • Participate in quality management activities, including inspections, audits, and incident reporting as required.
  • Utilise the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), Q-Pulse quality management database, and other relevant software to ensure high-quality, reliable data capture and entry.
