Job Description

We have an exciting opening for a Biomedical Scientist to join our histology team at Cryotomy Services. We are a specialist laboratory service provider for Mohs surgery tissue processing. We work with clinics and health service providers throughout the London area, providing specialist diagnostic support for the treatment of skin cancer.

We are seeking a motivated individual with the ability to work independently in a time-restrained environment. The candidate must hold HCPC registration. Full training will be provided. After training and competency checks, the candidate will be required to work independently. The role involves working at various locations inside the London area. This is a part-time role, with salary on a pro-rata basis.

There will be opportunities to increase hours up to full-time depending on competency and service demand.

Key responsibilities:

1. Develop competency in all aspects of frozen section technique for processing skin tissue, including tissue embedding, frozen sectioning, staining, and quality control.
2. Follow local processes, policies, and health and safety guidelines at all times.
3. Assist senior scientists in risk assessment, SOP reviews, and documentation.
4. Maintain stock control and manage ordering.
5. Work flexibly as per job demands.
6. Work independently following full training and competency checks.
7. Ensure adherence to scientific and professional standards at all times.

Essential requirements:

• Biomedical Science degree
• HCPC registration

Desirable skills:

• Experience in frozen section technique
• Experience in histopathology laboratory procedures such as embedding, sectioning, staining, and quality control
• Demonstrable experience of working independently and taking initiative in problem-solving
