  • Relevant degree approved by Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS).
  • Knowledge of relevant laboratory data management systems.
  • Knowledge of relevant quality procedures and Health and Safety knowledge.
  • Understanding of data protection and data quality.
Desirable criteria
  • Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) Registration Portfolio
  • Have a detailed understanding of the normal physiology and pathology of disease in order to apply the knowledge to specialty diagnostics.

  • Working in a (within speciality) laboratory environment.
  • Pathology IT systems.
  • Working in a team and alone
  • Training, inducting and supporting junior staff.

  • Prepared to work flexibly, including participating in weekend and out-of-hours arrangements when required and when deemed competent to do so.
  • Must participate in required rota pattern for the department.
  • Ability and willingness to fulfil the travel requirements of the post if relevant - primary place of work as per job description but on rare occasion may be asked to work at another site where the Trust has responsibility for Pathology services.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
