Job summary

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking an efficient and flexible member of the Blood Sciences laboratory to collaborate with biomedical and clinical scientists in delivering a high-quality clinical biochemistry service. Under supervision, you will handle, process and analyse clinical samples, authorise results, and maintain meticulous records to support the laboratory's quality system.

Job description

The successful candidate will work as an efficient and flexible member of the Blood Sciences laboratory, collaborating directly with biomedical and clinical scientists to deliver a high-quality clinical biochemistry service.

Under the supervision of senior scientific staff, you will participate in the accurate handling, processing and analysis of clinical samples & authorisation of results while maintaining meticulous records to support the laboratory’s quality system.

Additionally, you will ensure a safe working environment by adhering strictly to local and national safety guidelines, keeping laboratory equipment clean, calibrated, and well-maintained.

Continuous professional development is central to this role, requiring you to actively engage in ongoing teaching and training across various laboratory sections to continuously improve your skills and support excellent patient care.

• Collaborate effectively within the department to deliver a professional clinical laboratory service.
• Perform core scientific and interpretive work in line with the qualifications of a Registered Healthcare Scientist.
• Participate in appropriate training courses and continuous professional development (CPD) programs.
• Supervise unqualified staff and deputise for section leaders as needed.

NWLP Induction

The NWLP induction will run on the first Monday of each month (provided it does not fall on a bank holiday) and includes laboratory training (for relevant laboratory roles). All new staff must attend the NWLP induction during their first week with NWLP.
