Job summary

BMJ Publishing is seeking a Publishing Assistant to support a portfolio of biomedical journals. In a hybrid role, you will help the Publishing Team with administrative tasks, maintain journal records, organise meetings, and assist with editorial and website duties to ensure smooth operations.

You will gain exposure to publishing processes, data collection, and project work, building knowledge to advance in a publishing career within a recognised global health information provider.

Qualifications

• Experience in scholarly publishing is desirable
• Proficient with Microsoft Office or Google Suite
• Basic web skills desirable (WordPress)
• Ability to research information independently
• Ability to prioritise workload
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Self-motivated and results-focused

Responsibilities

• Financial administration: process supplier invoices and maintain payment files
• Journal data and desk research: collate data for reports and plans
• Meeting management: arrange dates and logistics, attend minutes
• Editorial team administration: maintain board lists and update systems
• Website maintenance: update information on the BMJ publishing sites
• Social and multimedia management: assist with podcasts, videos and blogs
• Other: cover for publishing team members and participate in ad hoc projects
