- About the Role:
- Deliver engaging and challenging Biology lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and potentially 5 (A-Level), covering core biological concepts and principles.
- Develop and implement effective lesson plans that incorporate practical investigations, dissections (where appropriate and ethically considered), data analysis, and interactive learning activities to foster a deep understanding of biology.
- Assess student progress through regular formative and summative assessments, including lab reports, presentations, and examinations, providing timely and constructive feedback to support their learning and development in biology.
- Contribute to the smooth running of the Science department, including participating in departmental meetings and potentially assisting with extracurricular science activities or clubs.
- Maintain a safe and stimulating learning environment within the biology laboratories.
- This is a full-time, permanent position starting in September 2025.
- Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong background and specialism in Biology.
- Experience teaching Biology at the secondary level, ideally across a range of key stages including GCSE and potentially A-Level.
- A thorough understanding of the secondary science curriculum and effective teaching strategies for Biology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire female students of all abilities.
- Strong practical skills and experience in laboratory work, with a commitment to ensuring student safety and ethical considerations in biological investigations.
- A passion for biology and a desire to share that enthusiasm with young women, encouraging their participation and success in the sciences.
