Overview

Biology Teacher Maternity Cover

Cranleigh seeks to appoint starting January 2026 a strong honours graduate to teach Biology. Depending on their experience, the successful candidate will teach a selection of classes in Biology from years 9 to 13 in a lively and ambitious Department, as well as taking a full part in the life of this busy and friendly boarding school. The post will run for at least two terms and potentially three terms.

Cranleigh is a leading, fully co-educational independent boarding and day Senior School, consisting of around 680 girls and boys aged years. There is also a Preparatory School in close proximity. Responsibilities

The Biology Teacher will:

  • teach Biology to classes across years 9 to 13 in the Department’s four-lacatory facilities, alongside seven teachers and a full-time technician
  • actively contribute to the life of the busy boarding school and the School’s co-curricular programme
  • act as a tutor to a group of students within a House, normally including one evening duty per week
  • participate in weekly Department meetings and collaborate to sustain and enhance Biology delivery
Qualifications and Qualities
  • Good honours degree in Biology (or a closely related subject)
  • Strong knowledge of and enthusiasm for Biology; ability to communicate with humour, patience and clarity
  • Self-motivated, flexible, adaptable, innovative and a good team player
  • Commitment to pupils, the Department and the wider life of the School, with an understanding of curricular developments
