Job summary

Lancashire County Council is seeking a Technical Support Officer to work on the Biological Heritage Sites system and support ecologists. The role involves data management, GIS tasks and coordinating with partners to protect wildlife sites.

The position is based at County Hall, Preston, with a flexible working policy that allows home working where appropriate. A permanent, full-time contract offers 38 hours per week and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience in data management and GIS is essential.
• Good communication and people skills with attention to detail.
• Familiarity with nature conservation and land management is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update the Biological Heritage Sites (BHS) system.
• Assist ecologists and advise on land management and grants.
• Collaborate with LNRS, LERN and other stakeholders.
• Support data reporting and stakeholder engagement.
