Position Overview

The Bioinformatics Engineer I will be responsible for the monitoring, collection, and analysis of data produced by assays, software applications, production, and development pipelines supporting on-market and under-development products by Exact Sciences. The role also involves contributing to new algorithms and applications to support platforms and products being developed by our company.

Essential Duties

• Contribute to the development of analytical pipelines, software, web applications, and data visualizations to support the development of novel assays, improvement of assays under development, and hypothesis testing requested by the Product Development and Computational Biology team.
• Collect and document product and software requirements and findings from analyses and code developed and executed by themselves and others.
• Write and optimize SQL queries against MSSQL databases.
• Assist with the development of Python programs of medium to high complexity.
• Perform accurate, complete, timely collection, validation, and tracking of research, commercial, and manufacturing data.
• Assist with constructing datasets and visualizations for reporting.
• Perform basic data analysis.
• Maintain accurate documentation of programs and procedures.
• Assist with the integration of software components into pipelines and web applications.
• Develop understanding and utilization of research, commercial, and manufacturing data management systems, processes, and procedures.
• Provide functional expertise to development, study, and process teams.
• Integrate and apply feedback professionally.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in science, life sciences, computer science, or related field.
• 1+ years of experience with basic scripting or web development with Python or R.
• 1+ years of experience with SQL and MSSQL databases.
• Ability to use various programming languages, tools, and databases to compile and present accurate datasets.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
• Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of recent experience with statistical programming using SAS.
• 2+ years of recent experience with Python/R.
• Experience with cloud computing software, including AWS and Azure.
• Experience working with Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
• Basic skills in Linux command line.
• Familiarity with molecular biology and bioinformatics tools.
• Familiarity with web development.
