Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant Biochemistry in the North Sector, based at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. The role involves pre-analytical sample preparation, accurate registration on the Laboratory Information System, and ensuring safe handling of specimens.

You will assist Biomedical Scientists and contribute to smooth laboratory operations, with shift patterns including day, back shifts and weekend mornings.

Qualifications

• Three Highers at grade C or above, including Chemistry or Biology with Mathematics.
• SVQ Level 3 or equivalent apprenticeship in life sciences.
• Complete of modern apprenticeship or equivalent education.
• Applications must reflect relevant qualification criteria.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-analytical preparation and processing of samples.
• Register patient information on the Laboratory Information System accurately.
• Ensure safe storage of specimens and proper disposal of clinical waste.
• Support Biomedical Scientists to maintain efficient laboratory operation.

Education

Three Highers at Grade C or above, including Chemistry or Biology together with Mathematics

SVQ Level 3
