Mott MacDonald Bentley in Reading is seeking a BIM Technician to drive CAD/BIM data delivery on water and wastewater projects from feasibility through construction. You will model in 3D, validate data, and ensure integration with our common data environment, contributing to BIM standards.

Ideal candidates hold a recognised CAD/BIM qualification and are proficient in Revit, Civil 3D and AutoCAD, with knowledge of ISO 19650 and strong collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Recognised qualification in Computer-aided design (CAD), BIM or related field.
• Proficiency in one or more Autodesk authoring packages (Revit, Civil 3D, AutoCAD).
• Knowledge of water or wastewater projects.
• Experience in authoring 3D models in Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM360.
• Understanding of BIM data within a common data environment (Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM360).
• Understanding of ISO 19650 information management principles.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
• Proficient in delivering results within short timeframes and prioritising tasks.

Responsibilities

• Deliver CAD/BIM design data and support QA processes.
• Use 3D modelling to support design collaboration, clash detection, asset data capture and cost capture.
• Support development of common data environment platform and processes (Autodesk CC/BIM360).
• Create and develop standard BIM element libraries for model reuse.
• Manage cyber security aspects of CAD/BIM data and access.
• Validate CAD/BIM models from suppliers and integrate into models.
• Collaborate with designers to balance time, cost and quality.
• Ensure safety, wellbeing, environment and sustainability in BIM/CAD outputs.
• Guide and mentor junior BIM technicians and deliver technical guidance.

MMB has successfully extended its contract with Thames Water for an additional five years. As the largest water and wastewater provider in the UK, Thames Water serves 15 million customers throughout London and the Thames Valley. This extension will carry the current agreement through to the end of AMP8 in March 2030. MMB is delivering work on three frameworks in the region, which sees us undertake a varied programme of water and wastewater non‑infrastructure and infrastructure projects to improve the network.

As a BIM Technician you'll work on projects that make a real difference to our environment and our communities - enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of water and wastewater treatment systems.

You will play a pivotal role in delivering BIM and Digital outputs throughout the lifecycle of various projects. From concept design to commissioning, you will ensure that all BIM aspects are meticulously considered and integrated.

The role of a BIM Technician includes:

• Delivering CAD/BIM design data and undertaking quality control processes and contributing to development of the CAD/BIM standards.
• Using 3D modelling to support design collaboration, clash resolution, asset data capture, digital rehearsal and cost capture
• Supporting the development of the common data environment platform and process (Autodesk CC/ BIM 360)
• Creating and developing a standardised BIM element library, to support model reuse and a production approach, including identifying affordable and low carbon solutions.
• Taking responsibility for cyber security aspects associated with CAD/BIM data and access
• Undertaking validation of CAD/BIM models from suppliers and integrating into our models
• Working with designers to manage the competing tensions of time, cost and quality
• Managing safety, wellbeing, environment and sustainability within your BIM/CAD output
• Supporting the project teams understanding of BIM and supporting less experienced BIM technicians, providing technical and professional guidance to aid their development

What you’ll need:

• Recognised qualification in Computer-aided design (CAD), BIM or related field
• Proficiency in one or more Autodesk authoring packages (Revit, Civil 3D, AutoCAD).
• Knowledge of water, or wastewater, non-infrastructure or infrastructure projects.
• Experience in authoring 3D models in a common data environment platform (Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM360).
• An understanding of working in a common data environment platform (Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM360) and managing BIM data throughout the project lifecycle.
• Understanding of key principles of information management as set out in ISO 19650.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
• Proficient in delivering results within short timeframes, prioritising tasks and managing your time efficiently.
