Job summary

Bechtel is collaborating with AWE as an integrated team to deliver the preliminary design for the facilities within the Future Materials Campus. Since 2023, Bechtel has provided delivery and technical support, ensuring the project is completed on schedule and within budget.

Job Summary:

This position is for a Building Information Model (BIM) Coordinator who will work a multi-year contract on a United Kingdom (UK) nuclear infrastructure programme for which Bechtel are providing the Project Management and Engineering services. This project is at the conceptual design phase driving a programme involving a multi-billion-pound investment in nuclear and non-nuclear facilities.

The BIM Coordinator is responsible for supporting the implementation of the digital vision and the Project Information Management strategy. This role forms part of a integrated multi-discipline team. It provides support to the M&E/ building facilities team as well as the Process team.

The role will be based primarily at Aldermaston UK, however travel to Bechtel’s London office (near Covent Garden) may also be required. Flexibility in work locations includes three days per week working at the project site and two days working from home or the Bechtel office. This arrangement will change as project needs adjust.

The position is open to United Kingdom (UK) Nationals only and would require the successful candidate to secure Security Clearence.

This position is also subject to a successful interview and agreement upon terms and conditions of employment.

Major Responsibilities:

• Assist with the implementation of project naming conventions, asset tagging, work breakdown structures, and other coding systems to align with client and project requirements.




• Ensure that the BIMs conform to the BEP and carry out continuous “housekeeping” on the model to keep it in a high state of conformance.




• Capture lessons learned and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.




• Develop/Enhance and implement processes for BIM/3D model health check against project requirements




• Implement processes to integrate BIM/3D models with schedule to generate 4D simulation of construction sequence




• Implement processes to integrate BIM/3D models and Quantity Take-off Templates for construction progress tracking and reporting




• Oversee and verify that the design is clash‑free.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• A recognised bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university a plus




• BIM Proficiency qualification is a plus




• Minimum of 3 years’ experience, working across 2D and 3D BIM authoring software is a must

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Demonstrate understanding of ISO 19650 Information Management Principles and Framework




• Demonstrable experience of producing 2D Line Diagrams such as schematics and Process Flow Diagrams




• Previous experience working with BIM templates, standards & classification systems, class libraries and master data model on projects.




• Must be proficient enough to work independently or with limited supervision and with a strong work ethic.




• Must be able to obtain a SC Clearance for access to the AWE Site.




• Strong capability in 2D and 3D BIM software packages such as Navisworks, Revit and AutoCAD




• Strong capability 2D drawings (layouts, arrangements, sections, elevations etc.) from the 3D model




• Strong capability in the creation of Revit families and the use of parameters.




• Strong capability in the creation of various BIM schedules from the model.




• Initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and effectively




• Good knowledge of Building Services Requirements and BSRIA BG6




• Strong familiarity with Building Information Modelling Standards




• Experience of working with CDE’s such as Autodesk Construction Cloud a plus




• Experience in the use of inventor a plus




• Relevant industrial experience. General nuclear experience a plus.




• Familiarity with working in a secure environment a plus
