Reporting to the Bid Excellence Director, the Bid Writing Lead will be responsible for managing, mentoring, and coaching Bid Writers within the Bid Excellence team to ensure high-quality bid and proposal content, with a focus on continuous improvement. This involves both day-to-day line management and oversight/review of bids produced by the team.

This is a networked role requiring the ability to work under pressure and meet challenging deadlines.

Main Duties

• Provide team leadership and oversight for Senior Bid Writers and Bid Writers.
• Ensure all team members are clear on their roles, responsibilities, and deliverables. Monitor their progress and intervene/manage as necessary to maintain planned bid content development.
• Maintain understanding of workload within the bid writing team, including key details of each in-flight opportunity.
• Support the Bid Excellence Director in reviewing and improving bid development practices across Mitie to enhance bid quality.
• Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to support bid team members in delivering high-quality bids and improving bid writing skills.
• Lead the bid team in implementing bid procedures and processes aligned with Mitie methodology, ensuring proper governance.
• Work closely with all bid stakeholders, especially the Solutions Director and sales team, to ensure bids are compelling and of high quality.
• Conduct detailed quality reviews to ensure bids are compelling, commercially attractive, and capable of winning.
• Collaborate with other senior bid team colleagues to manage resources and capacity effectively.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market conditions and support material organization.
• Proactively produce written content for major or strategic bid opportunities as part of the core/allocated bid team.

What we are looking for

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in bid writing and management, preferably within the FM sector.
• Previous line management and team leadership experience.
• Strong written English skills demonstrated through extensive bid writing experience.
• Skilled in providing feedback and coaching to bid writers and related stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Excellent stakeholder communication and influencing skills, up to senior level.
• Strong presentation skills with adaptable styles for different audiences and outcomes.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Can-do attitude, able to work independently under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Certified to APMP Foundation level (desirable).
