We are supporting a well-regarded contractor in the construction and utilities sector in their search for an experienced Bid Writer. The company is involved in delivering essential infrastructure projects across the South East and requires a confident writer who can manage complex submissions with accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
The role is ideal for someone based in or near West London, Watford, Uxbridge, Slough, High Wycombe, Rickmansworth, or Hounslow, and is looking for a permanent position with genuine long-term development.
Key responsibilities include:
Preparing written responses for PQQs, ITTs, and formal tenders
Developing clear response plans with input from technical and commercial colleagues
Leading planning sessions to agree structure, tone, and win themes
Collaborating across departments including operations, health and safety, design, and innovation
Writing, editing, and formatting proposals to a high professional standard
Ensuring compliance with submission criteria and brand guidelines
Working to strict deadlines across multiple live bids
Managing a bid content library and updating reusable material as needed
We are looking for someone with:
At least three years experience in a dedicated bid writing or proposals role
A background in construction, civil engineering, or utilities
Excellent writing and editing skills, with a strong grasp of grammar and structure
Confidence working with technical and operational teams to extract the right information
The ability to present complex subjects in a clear, structured, and engaging way
Good organisational skills, with experience managing competing deadlines
Familiarity with layout and bid design software such as InDesign is useful
