Job summary

STRABAG UK is seeking an experienced Bid Writer to develop high-quality, compliant tender content for major civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the UK. You will work with Pre-Construction teams and experts to translate complex information into customer-focused responses.

The role focuses on execution, collaboration, and delivering winning submissions under tight deadlines, with opportunities to influence landmark projects and improve bid libraries.

Qualifications

• Developing high-quality PQQ and tender responses and supporting evidence.
• Conducting question analysis and developing clear response plans.
• Interviewing SMEs to gather information and translate complex data.
• Working with SMEs to ensure content is well structured and brand-aligned.
• Supporting win strategy, themes, and storytelling during workshops.
• Managing writing workloads to meet milestones and deadlines.
• Maintaining content libraries and documenting lessons learned.

Responsibilities

STRABAG UK is seeking an experienced Bid Writer to join our growing Infrastructure subdivision to play a key role in developing and delivering high-quality tenders and proposals for major civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the UK.

Required:

• Proven experience writing and structuring compliant tender content within construction, engineering, or infrastructure.
• Proven ability to absorb, analyse and structure complex information and translate it into compelling customer-focused responses.
• Strong collaborative and communication skills, with a proven ability to build effective relationships with technical and operational teams.
• Strong organisation skills with a track record of managing workloads to hit internal intermediate deadlines.
• Excellent written English, grammar, sentence structure, and meticulous attention to layout detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, PowerPoint), SharePoint, MS Teams and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
• APMP Foundation Certification or equivalent
• Degree-level qualification in Business, Engineering, Construction, English, or a related field.
• Professional membership in a relevant institution (e.g., CIOB, ICE, RICS, APM).
• Specific writing exposure within major transport, tunnelling, energy, utilities, or major construction & infrastructure frameworks.
• Experience operating within structured work-winning content libraries or knowledge management hubs.

About the Role:

An integral part of the Pre-Construction Team, the Bid Writer is responsible for developing high-quality, compliant, and customer-focused written content for tenders and proposals. This role is focused on execution and collaborative delivery, working under the guidance of Pre-Construction/Bid Managers and collaborating closely with technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to support the creation of winning submissions.

Requirements:

• Developing high-quality PQQ and tender responses, bid specific case studies and supporting evidence through question analysis, answer planning, writing, and editing.
• Conducting detailed question analysis and developing clear response plans that address client requirements, scoring criteria, evaluation methodologies and preferences.
• Researching and interviewing technical, operational and business function experts to gather information and translate complex project and technical information into clear, persuasive and customer-focused responses.
• Working collaboratively with subject matter experts (SMEs) and other contributors to develop content that is well structured, easy to understand, aligned with customer terminology and consistent with company brand.
• Supporting win strategy, win-theme, storyboarding and writing workshops, contributing ideas and evidence to the development of the overall bid narrative.
• Participating in internal review meetings and responding constructively to editorial feedback, incorporating agreed review comments to improve written content.
• Managing own writing workload and allocated responses to meet internal review milestones and final submission deadlines.
• Contributing to continuous improvement by sharing knowledge and best practice, maintaining high-quality content within work-winning libraries, and participating in post-tender reviews and lessons learned.
