First Military Recruitment is currently seeking a Bid Manager (Construction) on behalf of one of our clients.

Our client welcomes applications from ex-military personnel; however, all candidates will be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • This role is pivotal in the preparation and submission of tenders for large-scale underground construction projects.
  • Responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing engineering projects focused on tunnel and underground constructions, ensuring deliverables are met within specified timelines and budgets.
  • Analyse tender documents, specifications, and related technical data.
  • Prepare technical proposals and work plans, including risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with project management and business development teams to ensure compliance with client requirements.
  • Develop detailed project schedules, resource plans, and budget forecasts.
  • Identify potential technical challenges and propose innovative solutions.
  • Assist in formulating project execution plans and strategies for underground works.
  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, including geotechnical engineers, construction managers, and subcontractors.
  • Provide technical support and guidance during pre-bid meetings and client presentations.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with all stakeholders throughout the tendering process.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical and commercial bid documents.
  • Maintain accurate records of all tender preparation activities and decisions.
  • Report on project progress, potential issues, and risk management plans.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering and construction techniques.
  • Experience within underground works e.g. tunnelling
  • Understanding of relevant procurement legislation.
  • Commercial awareness of different contract types.
  • Familiarity with governance and procedural requirements for work winning.
  • Proficiency in estimating software packages.
