The role

As a Bid Manager, you’ll have an out-of-the-ordinary role. The primary focus will be to ensure the submission of winning bids, increasingly in competitive situations rather than sole source. Managing stakeholder inputs and interests across the business is essential.

Day-to-day, you’ll:
  • Submit bids that meet all schedule milestones and are completed within the budget agreed at the outset.
  • Prepare for and lead opportunities through the CN governance process, including gate and coloured reviews, requiring knowledge of the Business Winning process.
  • Identify, secure, and mobilise capability and support from across the business and external supply chain, including engaging the proposal team to generate high-quality responses.
  • Provide regular progress updates and liaise within the business to manage or mitigate issues threatening bid success.
  • Engage with SMEs, capability, functional, and business personnel during bid preparation and reviews.
  • Ensure post-tender/pre-contract clarifications and customer requirements are met, with proper handover to business delivery.

This is a full-time role, 37 hours per week, with hybrid working: 2 days in the office and 3 days remote.

Essential experience of the Bid Manager:
  • Proven track record in bid management of complex bids over £10m or at least 5 years of bid management experience.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of the end-to-end Business Winning process and management systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet interim milestones and deadlines.
  • Understanding of key components of an offer, such as schedule, supply chain, risk, contract terms, and finance models, with relevant business inputs.
