THE OPPORTUNITY

Title: Bid Manager

Location: United Kingdom (remote)

Job summary

The Bid Manager supports our global sales teams by managing responses to complex RFx (Tenders, Bids, Information and Proposals) documents. This role has primary responsibility for producing high-quality, client-centric, and deadline-driven proposals for various industry verticals, with a particular emphasis on the public sector.

You will lead the end-to-end bid development process, from pre-release of tenders through submission. Your responsibilities include coaching teams on proposal best practices, building customer-focused win strategies, assisting in qualification, providing content, editing documents for consistency, and submitting compliant proposals. The Bid Manager remains involved after submission to assist with presentations, best and final offers, debriefs, and lessons learned discussions.

This role requires a deep understanding of the bid process, including analyzing customer issues and translating solutions into compelling value messages. You should have experience building trusted relationships with stakeholders across business lines and a track record of successful outcomes. Your focus will be on developing bids that resolve customer issues and drive positive change, ensuring alignment with Iron Mountain’s messaging and brand.

The Bid Manager reports to the Head of Bid Management EMEA and is part of the Commercial Excellence team.

Your role in our mission:
  • Manage the lifecycle of multiple bids, ensuring documents are customer-focused and articulate value.
  • Support sales leads throughout the bid process, setting schedules, assigning tasks, and supporting deliverables.
  • Write and edit bid sections for continuity, logic, and compliance, emphasizing Iron Mountain differentiators.
  • Analyze customer needs and translate strategies into compelling win themes.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop responses and understand complex solutions.
  • Use graphics effectively to enhance comprehension.
  • Perform win-loss debriefs and analysis.
  • Maintain bid content and resources for team use.
  • Track bids in Salesforce and upload relevant files.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist sales with questions and strategies for tenders.
  • Support sales with presentation materials and messaging.
  • Develop knowledge of Iron Mountain’s products and services.
Valued skills and experience:
  • Experience with bid processes, including public sector in the UK.
  • Proven leadership of cross-functional teams and bid management from pre-tender to delivery.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Fluency in English; secondary languages like French or Spanish are a plus.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Google Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and content management systems.
  • Knowledge of service-based and technology solution selling.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • PMP or similar certification preferred.
