Overview

World Class Defence Organisation based in Stevenage (the role can be a split of working Onsite and Working From Home) is currently looking to recruit a Bid Coordinator on an initial 6 month contract, with very high prospect of extension.

This role would suit a candidate who has a strong background as a Bid Coordinator, Bid Manager, Bid Specialist or Bid Writer. An Engineering background would be great, and experience in Defence or Aerospace is advantageous.

  • Overtime: Hours worked over 37 per week will be calculated at time and a quarter

Role Description

The Test Equipment New Business Support (TE NBS) role will form part of a small team within an international Test Equipment Design/delivery function, developing test solutions for domestic/internal and export customers. The UK test equipment team works closely with international colleagues in France.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Test Equipment bidding team to produce technical costed proposals for all UK delivered test solutions (Development, Production and Export).
  • Liaise with design/technical teams and subject matter experts to provide technical costed proposals to the UK programs, ensuring consistency and on-time delivery.
  • Support multi-programme demands to meet bid delivery timescales and programme objectives.
  • Ensure contribution to delivering bids on-time, on-quality and on-cost to meet programme needs.
  • Generate and compile UK bid costs from multi-disciplined areas (including international cost base). Generate technical costed proposals and present to UK programs as required.
  • Ensure quick, informed decision-making and initiative in face of evolving project requirements and disruptions.
  • Work as part of the UK team under the New Business Manager to generate cost data and presentation material.
  • Manage configuration control of bidding data and data entry into Data Management Systems tools (Matrix, JIRA, Primavera). Training will be provided.
  • Maintain cross-functional alignment between internal customers and Hardware/Software Design, Procurement, Quality, Manufacturing to keep workflows coordinated.
  • Maintain positive relationships with Key Interfaces & stakeholders and promote the Test Equipment function. Engage with programs, peers and SMEs for successful outcomes.
  • Manage schedule adherence and delivery of KPIs through bidding/planning processes.
  • Provide advice and support to test equipment and program teams, detailing best practices and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Generate and develop documentation, reports, plans and communications. Deliver and present to an International test equipment leadership team.
  • Promote and support the international Test Equipment Centre of Excellence (TE CofEx).
Qualifications / Skills
  • Experience compiling bid data from technical SMEs into standardised bid pro forma.
  • Ability to communicate with different areas and levels of the business.
  • Liaison with bid requesting customers (internal programs), technical teams, SMEs, and Test Equipment leadership teams.
  • Proficiency with common office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Engineering discipline experience and knowledge of a product through-life design lifecycle (concept, development, integration & validation, delivery, support) is ideal but not essential.
  • Primavera experience is an asset but not essential.
  • Ability to work at the Stevenage site with flexible/dynamic working arrangements; 2-3 days minimum on-site per week preferred (more initially for training).
  • Willingness to support occasional short-term travel (1-2 nights) and potential visits to Bolton (UK) and Paris (France); some international travel to France may be required. French language skills are not essential.
  • Training on bidding processes and IT tools will be provided as needed.
