Job description

About ARU:

ARU is a global university transforming lives through innovative, inclusive and entrepreneurial education and research. Recognised as University of the Year in 2023, ARU holds a Gold Award for the quality of its education, awarded through the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF). ARU’s research institutes and four faculties bridge scientific, technical and creative fields. We deliver impactful research which tackles pressing issues and makes a real difference to our communities. Our academic excellence has been recognised by the UK’s Higher Education funding bodies, with 16 of our research areas assessed as world leading. We are the largest provider of Nursing, Midwifery, Health and Social Care students in the East of England, and we are also among the UK’s leading universities for degree apprenticeship provision, working with hundreds of employers across the UK.

About the Role:

Are you highly organised, detail-focused and motivated by delivering high-quality work to tight deadlines? Do you enjoy coordinating multiple priorities and being at the heart of a busy, collaborative team? Do you like seeing a project through to a successful outcome?

If so, we would love to hear from you.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and experienced business development team where your work will have a direct impact on securing new opportunities and driving organisational growth.

Working with the Business Development Manager on competitive tenders, you will support the full end to end proposal process – from initial interest and co-ordination of responses to the final tender proposal documentation submission. Liaising with colleagues to collect the high-quality responses required to win new business, you will support with organising meetings, co-ordinating relevant activities, up-keeping records and drafting proposal content based on information obtained during the tender engagement.

With a minimum of two A levels or vocational qualification at NVQ level 3 or equivalent, you will have demonstratable experience of producing documents that require a high level of detail and accuracy. Experienced in working to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment, you need to be able to work proactively and with initiative, working independently to achieve the task at hand.

No two days are the same, and the role offers significant professional and personal satisfaction. If you are looking for a role that combines challenge, professional development, teamwork and the satisfaction of contributing to winning new business, we would be delighted to hear from you.

You will be fully supported with ongoing mentoring from experienced bid and business development professionals and regular one-to-one performance development discussions. There is also the opportunity to undertake a level 3 apprenticeship programme, combining theoretical training with real-life, workplace experience.

Informal enquiries can be made to Lucy Canovas, Business Development Manager, at lucy.canovas@aru.ac.uk or on 07879 805209.

Closing date for applications: 16 November 2026
Interviews will be held in person on our Cambridge Campus: 23 November 2026

Please Note: The salary for this role will be £27,865 per annum.
