How you could help us to Enchant the World with Chocolate

The BI Developer partners with business stakeholders and IT Business Partners to understand reporting and analytics needs and translate them into effective front-end business intelligence solutions. The role designs, develops, tests and supports dashboards, reports and visualisations, working closely with BI developers, data engineers and Group IT teams to ensure that back-end data solutions support the required business outcomes. The role is accountable for ensuring that visualisations are fit for purpose, aligned to agreed standards and supported throughout their lifecycle. It also contributes to the evolution of the analytics landscape by improving reporting processes, encouraging user adoption and identifying opportunities to increase the value of data and insight.

Key Responsibilities
Business Partnership & Demand Shaping

Build trusted relationships with business stakeholders and IT Business Partners to understand objectives, pain points, reporting needs and opportunities. Translate business requirements into clear functional specifications, report definitions, user stories and acceptance criteria. Challenge and refine requests to ensure proposed BI solutions address the underlying business need and deliver measurable value. Support the prioritisation and shaping of BI demand, providing effort, dependency, risk and delivery input.

BI Analysis, Development & Visualisation

Source and prepare data for analysis and develop reports, dashboards and front-end visualisations that meet agreed business requirements. Apply appropriate data visualisation techniques to present information clearly, consistently and accessibly for technical and non-technical audiences. Work closely with back-end BI developers and data engineers to ensure data models, transformations and integrations support front-end deliverables. Automate and operationalise reporting activities where appropriate to improve timeliness, consistency, and efficiency. Maintain solution documentation, report definitions, business rules and the reporting catalogue.

Testing, Quality and Data Integrity

Define and execute proportionate test plans, test cases and reconciliation checks for new and changed BI solutions. Coordinate business validation and user acceptance testing, ensuring defects and data discrepancies are understood and resolved. Investigate anomalous data, reporting differences and root causes, recommending improvements to data, process or solution design. Ensure delivered solutions conform to agreed development, security, privacy, accessibility and documentation standards.

Service Excellence & Application Support

Provide application support for front-end BI solutions and ensure incidents and requests are managed in line with agreed procedures and service levels. Use application management and monitoring tools to investigate issues, collect performance information and support problem resolution. Identify recurring issues and work with relevant teams and suppliers to deliver sustainable corrective actions. Communicate clearly with users throughout incident resolution and escape issues outside the role’s accountability.

Product Lifecycle, Adoption & Continuous Improvement

Monitor solution usage, adoption, performance and stakeholder feedback, using insight to recommend enhancements. Support users through guidance, demonstrations, training materials and knowledge sharing. Contribute to analytics roadmaps and the transition from legacy reporting to strategic platforms. Explore new visualisation techniques, platform capabilities and ways of working that improve insight and user experience.
