Position Overview

Reporting to the Lead Business Intelligence Developer, the Business Intelligence Developer has responsibility for developing reports and dashboards for the business using the company’s Business Intelligence tools.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with key stakeholders in all areas of the business to identify suitable key performance metrics and translate needs into technical specifications.
  • Design, develop, build, deploy and administer business intelligence solutions based on technical specifications that provide accessible information and insights for effective decision-making.
  • Evaluate and streamline existing reports and business intelligence solutions to continually look at new ways to analyse, model and visualise data.
  • Write efficient and scalable SQL queries to extract, transform and load (ETL) data from relevant business data sources.
  • Conduct troubleshooting on data models and business intelligence solutions to resolve any issues and respond to suggestions for improvements and enhancements.
  • Using business intelligence tools, provide analytical support and information to all areas of the business.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, SQL administrators, and other BI developers to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and performance.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives) and contribute to iterative development cycles.
  • Any other duties as may be reasonably required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, business intelligence, computer science or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Business Intelligence Developer using BI technologies (Qlik preferred).
  • Good knowledge of SQL development and queries and experience in data warehouse design and ETL framework.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages – Word, Outlook, Excel, Visio.
  • Understanding of agile methodologies and experience working in an agile team.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise.
  • Good communication and decision-making skills.
  • Proactive approach with the ability to take the initiative and be innovative.
  • Basic salary - £38,000 per annum
