Role: BI & Data Engineering Lead

Location: Hybrid, 2 days in the office, Newcastle

Organisation:

A B2B organisation fueled by untapped data, with a Fortune 500 client base, well positioned for growth and opportunity.

Role:

This role offers variety and challenge across all aspects of BI & Data Engineering, including strategy, tooling, architecture, and implementation. The candidate will work closely with the organization to extract value from complex, unstructured data.

This is a player/coach role, managing a small, growing team, and actively involved in architecture, data pipelines, warehouses, transformation logic, and BI reporting solutions (Power BI). The role aims to enable data-driven decision-making to create significant business value and opportunities.

Suitable for someone aiming for a Head of BI & Data Engineering position.

Current tech stack includes Azure Data Factory (ETL), Azure SQL (Data Warehouse), Azure Analysis Services (Data Models), and Power BI (Visualization).

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing scalable, secure, and reliable data and BI architecture, including data models.
• Supporting the definition and delivery of BI and Data roadmap.
• Implementing and refining Data Governance.
• Ensuring user adoption and collaborating with non-technical stakeholders for buy-in.
• Evolving BI, Data, AI, and Analytics landscape (AI/ML).
• Tool selection, cost management, and team management.

Experience required:

• Building and scaling BI and Data Architecture.
• Expertise in platforms like Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Power BI.
• Background in ETL/ELT tooling and Data Pipelines such as DBT, Fivetran, Airflow.
• Experience with Cloud solutions (Azure, AWS, Google).
