Role: BI & Data Engineering Lead

Location: Hybrid 2 days in the office, Newcastle

Salary: circa £75k-£80k + Benefits Package

Role:

A unique opportunity for someone that enjoys variety and challenge. This role will cover all aspects of BI & Data Engineering, from strategy > tooling > architecture > implementation, as well as working closely with the organisation to extract more value from unstructured, complex data.

This is a player/coach role, managing a small and growing team while also engaging directly with architecture, data engineering (pipelines, warehouses, transformation logic), and overseeing the team responsible for BI reporting solutions (Power BI).

The role is pivotal in enabling the business to become truly data-driven, creating significant value and opportunities.

Ideal for someone aspiring to become Head of BI & Data Engineering.

Current tech stack includes: Azure Data Factory (ETL) > Azure SQL Data Warehouse > Azure Analysis Services > Power BI.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing scalable, secure, and reliable data and BI architecture, including robust Data Models
• Supporting the definition and delivery of BI and Data roadmaps
• Implementing and refining Data Governance
• Driving user adoption and collaborating with non-technical stakeholders for buy-in
• Evolving BI, Data, AI, and Analytics capabilities (including AI/ML)
• Tool selection, cost management, and team leadership

Experience required:

• Proven experience in building and scaling BI and Data Architecture
• Expertise in modern BI and Data Warehouse platforms such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Power BI
• Background in ETL/ELT tooling and Data Pipelines like DBT, Fivetran, Airflow
• Experience with Cloud solutions (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud)
