Job description

What you'll be doing:

As a member of the applications team, you will work with our data team to continually improve our Microsoft BI Solution, utilizing tools such as Databricks, SQL, Synapse/Data Factory, and Azure Analysis Services.

System Development
  • Develop high-quality, reusable Data Factory/SQL procedures, ensuring reliability and scalability.
  • Plan, design, and implement data pipelines, views, and data management processes.
  • Design and implement data integrations within Azure environments.
  • Ensure all developments follow best practices and company quality frameworks. Help define and implement new standards where none exist.
  • Create clear, well-documented development solutions to facilitate maintenance and expansion.
  • Provide hands-on support for BI applications, collaborating with IT colleagues to maintain critical systems.
Data Management
  • Ensure data quality and implement best practices for database management.
  • Troubleshoot data-related issues and provide technical support.
  • Create and optimize reports and dashboards.
  • Deliver end-to-end business change requirements.
  • Document system processes and procedures comprehensively.
Data Governance and Quality
  • Maintain data accuracy, consistency, and reliability across solutions.
  • Establish and enforce data governance policies and best practices.
  • Perform regular audits to identify weaknesses and drive continuous improvement.
  • Understand data and query optimization, profiling, and performance monitoring tools and techniques.
Candidate Profile

An experienced SQL developer and data engineer with key skills in Databricks, SQL, Synapse/Data Factory, and Azure Analysis Services. Knowledge of full project lifecycles and continuous delivery methodologies is essential. Exposure to data integrations and all elements of data engineering is beneficial. Strong communication, problem-solving, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to meet deadlines are required. Experience in retail is advantageous. Ability to produce high-quality documentation and designs is important.
