Job description

Here at Basil Fry (part of the Jensten Group), we are seeking a motivated Account Handler to join our friendly and client-focused Commercial team.

Since our founding in 1970, Basil Fry has developed extensive expertise in the removals, storage, and self-storage industries. Over fifty years, we have created a broad range of specialist insurance solutions, in-house claims teams, and market-leading risk management services.

You will be part of a team of approximately 20 within a larger office of 45 staff, based in our modern Leatherhead office, conveniently located within walking distance from the station and bus routes. Initially, you will work full-time in the office, with a flexible blend of office and home working available after training.

Key objectives & responsibilities:

  • Assist your Account Executive in offering and presenting insurance solutions, including policies and risk management services.
  • Handle renewals, mid-term adjustments, and new business by assessing risk and claims information, gathering additional details from clients, and liaising with insurers.
  • Provide renewal quotations promptly and follow up for instructions to achieve profitable renewal retention and growth within set timescales.
  • Develop effective relationships with clients, analyze their needs, and develop solutions via phone and email.
  • Respond promptly to client queries and ensure all communications are accurately recorded.
  • Ensure compliance with local procedures, customer service standards, and external regulations such as FCA.

About you:

As a Commercial Account Handler, you’ll have excellent communication and written skills with keen attention to detail. A background in insurance is preferred but not essential; experience in professional office environments will also be considered.

You will also have:

  • Experience gained in a professional office environment
  • Understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • A genuine interest in developing a career within insurance/broking
  • A desire to work towards CII qualifications (not essential)
  • Experience with Acturis (not essential)
